There will be games of the usual sort, so expect to be recruited for the fun stuff! Everyone will have the chance to enter the traditional 50/50 raffle benefitting the Humane Societies’ special fund for heartworm treatment.
We will honor our Veterans and the men and women who serve our country. Let’s show our support by wearing a yellow ribbon, a patriotic hat, or waving a miniature flag on Friday night! We will celebrate with good music and food and as always at the Emerald Club, there will be games and lots of fun. Also don’t forget to bring your leftover candy for our upcoming parade. Hope to see you there, Jan H.
October 2nd, 7 PM First Friday PHlocking at the Emerald Club – This will be the start of a great weekend! We will be working on some fun apple peeling activities to get ready for making apple butter the next day. We won’t be peeling all the apples at the PHlocking like last year, but we will have a few contests that are “apple related”. Instead, we will have a group of volunteers who will be peeling at the Synan household from 4:30 to PHlocking time. If you can help with the prep work of apple peeling for the apple butter project starting at 4:30, please contact Renee at firstname.lastname@example.org or call or message her at 919-697-3799.
Join us for a Tropical Toga Party, Jimmy Buffett style, this Friday September 4th at the Emerald Club starting around 7:00. Bring out your finest taga material and let’s get some fun competition going. The creativity of our group is continually amazing and I can’t wait to see what styles are presented, so bring it on!
There will be food provided by the E-Club via Eddie Peterson’s new restaurant, The Hubert Grill & Deli. The plan is to have finger sandwiches and a fruit and cheese selection. Feel free to bring some Toga Party food to share (Greek?). As usual there will be Corona and Landshark special; and some great tunes to get you on the dance floor.
Got a few news items coming down the pipeline about the Phlocking/Island Party weekend.
August 7th Phlocking will be a Margaritaville Luau featuring DJ Rob with his usual selection of entertaining and danceable tunes. Wear your best island Luau attire, or at least something wild and festive!
August 9th the Island Party will be going from 1:00 PM till about 5:00 PM. Remember that this is a private party for Parrot Head Members and their guests. Of course that doesn’t mean that you can’t make this your first event after joining. Please click the link on our website just to the right of this post to get information about joining the club. If you’re seeing this on one of our social media pages, please visit:
This page has information about becoming an Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club member and a link to a printable Membership Form that you can mail in along with your membership fee.
Keep safe out there and look for more updates on the Anniversary Weekend (or 13th Year) later this week.
The club is busy making plans for our Parrot Head Club Anniversary Weekend, August 7-9. Everyone should be looking for a fun weekend with a Phirst Phriday PHlocking on Friday (Aug. 7th) followed by our Anniversary Island Party (August 9th) out on Pelican Island. Parrot Heads and friends will arrive by boat, kayak, canoe, or other(?) for a fun day in the sun and water with games, grllin’ & chillin’, and music by Dicky Scearce & Jack Ketner (A.K.A Scared of Kittens). After the party was postponed last year because of bad weather and then cancelled because of more bad weather, we expect that the Phlock will be ready to party twice as hard and enjoy the anniversary weekend. Look for more information coming soon here on the website and on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.
For complete information on the event see the previous post.
The Humane society likes to use “Special Kitty” brand kitty litter; available inexpensively at Wal-Mart.
They also prefer Purina (Dog-chow, Puppy-chow, Cat-chow, Kitty-chow) brand foods.
We will be Phlocking on Friday July 3rd at the Emerald Club. With the holiday weekend I’m sure it will be crowded there!
Dress in red and green, and bring an “unwrapped” donation of pet food, newspapers, pet toys, old sheets or towels, cleaning supplies. Donations will go to Carteret County Humane Society. Continue reading July 2015 Phlocking – Christmas in July for our phurry phriends
