Parrot Heads do it again with a great time had by all. Renee and her helpers hosted Christmas in July PHlocking at the E-Club to benefit the Animal Shelter. We had a good turnout of folks who braved the heat and the threat of rain. Flannery (her dog) watched over the goodies everyone brought for the Shelter; lots of dog and cat food and other assorted stuff! The 50/50 raffle netted $80 to help the shelter. Thanks for all the hard work Renee and thanks to all who contributed. Party with a Purpose once again!
Last month (March) there was a sea of green at the Emerald Club! Everybody was decked out, and the Limerick contest was hilarious! All of the limericks were personalized and dedicated to some of our favorite Parrotheads! There was a tie for the winning Limerick, Jesse Holland, Bobbi Raub and Betty Strader. Congratulations ladies! Continue reading Report from the March 2015 Phlocking
If you didn’t make it to our February Phlocking celebration of Valentine/Heart Day, you missed one heck of a party with about 150 attending! The Emerald Club favored us with a grand assortment of chicken wings from Eddie at Piggly Wiggly complemented by various sweets prepared by our very own Parrot Heads. DJ Rob got us all on the dance floor with a variety of songs from the past to the present and dancing the Cupid Shuffle was a highlight! Oh Yeah! And how about the “Crazy Hearts” game and our talented participants? The lucky winning pair, Lindsey and Clint, won chocolates of course and announced that they were recently married so we helped them celebrate! Our 50/50 winner and favorite bartender, Matt, won $67. Since February represents National Heart Month, the American Heart Association was chosen as our charity and, after additional donations were made later, a contribution of $80 was made. So if you missed the fun this month, don’t worry, you can catch up at the next Phlocking on March 6! Who knows what’s in store?
Let’s celebrate the joy of having loved ones! In their honor, RED Day means you need to wear your favorite red and white (pink will work also). Cover your body from head to toe or just one item will do, but be ready to pay a price if you don’t have red or pink displayed and receive a reward if you do! Our DJ Rob will have a variety of tunes (sprinkled with love songs) to treat us. There will be a game for those of you who love a challenge and our usual 50/50 raffle. And of course, you can’t celebrate having a valentine(s) without something sweet on hand! So, to celebrate further we need a table/buffet full of cookies/sweets from your favorite recipe. For those of you who would like to contribute, please contact me (Jan) at firstname.lastname@example.org , or just bring it to the event! The E Club will be serving wings to compliment! Bring your sweetheart, loved one, family or friend and celebrate with us! Xoxo!
Come hang out at the January Phlocking this Friday at the E-Club as usual. Convening at 7PM we can share Christmas and New year’s Eve stories. I’m sure there will be laughs and leftover holiday cheer! DJ Robbie Jones will be spinning some tunes, free food buffet as usual, and some beer specials. Remember to bring some cash to pay your dues (still an inexpensive $10 annually) for 2015; this allows us to update our rolls for reporting membership to national and we won’t have to keep bugging you, haha. We look forward to seeing everyone there, have a Happy New Years celebration and everyone be safe.
Great PHlocking on the 5th, got to see a lot of folks we had not seen in a bit. We raised $543 for the needy families that will be shopped for by Renee and her elves. Thanks so much for being such generous Parrot Heads. The ugly sweaters were awesome. Three finalists, Tara, Marsha and Clyde pictured here. Merry Christmas all and you helped make a better Christmas for 5 families.
The SS Parrot Head took first place in the Non-Profits in the Emerald Isle Parade on Nov. 29th. There was lots of fun and good food at numerous work parties to build our cruise ship all fall. Special thanks to Kelly and Erin for their vision, and planning and organizing things. Our $250 prize will be donated to a brand new non profit 501c3 Hannah’s Hope that will provide all kinds of help to underprivileged kids in our area.
