Last month (March) there was a sea of green at the Emerald Club! Everybody was decked out, and the Limerick contest was hilarious! The Emerald Isle Half Marathon is a Boston Qualifying Marathon! Their aim is to give back to our community and local charities. 50% of proceeds will benefit the Emerald Isle Bike path and 50% will benefit the American Heart Association. The event takes place Saturday March 28, 2015.

Despite the rainy weather at the St. Patty’s Day Festival, our raffle raised $621 for Family Promise…what a generous fun group of people who volunteered their time and wonderful Festival attendees who bought lots of tickets. Great day despite the rain! Thanks to all who donated items.
The annual Hoop Pole Creek clean up this year helping out the Coastal Federation on March 7th was a great success. We had a total of 28 parrot heads participating including parrot heads visiting from Virginia. (friends of Jack and Renee). The weather cooperated nicely. Afterwards 19 of us Parrot Heads had a delicious lunch at the Monkey Bar Café’. W e thank everyone who made it a great success.
Wannabe leprechauns Anne Schrott and Wendy Rouston are going to get us all ready for the St Paddy’s Day Festival! There are two planned activities: Kilts and Limericks…Wings will be provided by the Emerald Club and Eddie from Piggly Wiggly. All are encouraged to bring a snack or sweet to share.
