Let’s Get PHluffy! January 14 at 6:30PM – join us for this annual meeting. It is your chance to be more active in club activities, provide some PHeedback and help to make some positive changes to the club. There will be plenty of food and drink, and no pressure, just fun and sharing of ideas.

Come Phlock with us! The January Phlocking is January 2, 7pm at the Emerald Club. DJ Robbie Jones will be hosting our inside gathering (’cause baby it’s cold outside!) Come join us as we hang out, listen to some good tunes and munch on food provided by Eddie Peterson from Piggly Wiggly Deli! Thank you Eddie!
A little ‘dues’ goes a long way! We will hopefully be collecting our budget friendly annual dues from returning and new members. Dues are $10 per person for 2015 for your continued membership. Please bring your dues to the Phlocking and don’t forget to check the club roster to assure we have your info correct.
Can’t attend the Phlocking? No worries, you have until March to pay your dues. You can bring them to the February or March Phlocking, or mail them to Sue Stone, at 9701 Ashley Place, Emerald Isle. If you join after March we will ask that you fill out another membership form, as we purge the list yearly.
How many members are in the EIPHC? We currently have 376 members! Wow, not bad for a small area like ours. We ranked 10th nationwide in size for 2013 out of 238 clubs world wide. Those clubs raised $33.9 million in funds for charities. We are past the $11,000 mark as a club for 2014. We will keep you posted on the final numbers!
First “Phirst Phriday Phlocking” of 2015
Come hang out at the January Phlocking this Friday at the E-Club as usual. Convening at 7PM we can share Christmas and New year’s Eve stories. I’m sure there will be laughs and leftover holiday cheer! DJ Robbie Jones will be spinning some tunes, free food buffet as usual, and some beer specials. Remember to bring some cash to pay your dues (still an inexpensive $10 annually) for 2015; this allows us to update our rolls for reporting membership to national and we won’t have to keep bugging you, haha. We look forward to seeing everyone there, have a Happy New Years celebration and everyone be safe.
Parade Winnings donated to Hannah’s Hope
Our parade winnings of $250 were donated to Hannah’s Hope. They were so grateful for the donation as they just received their non profit 501c3 status. The money they raise for their new organization goes to needy children. Since Kelley and Erin were the “big birds” (organizers) of the parade float, we asked them to pick the charity. Erin and Kelley table at Salty Air Market in the summer and so know the family and their story well. We will try to follow what they do with their organization for the future. They are still selling Christmas trees at the Salty Air Market in Cedar Point, $5 from each tree goes towards Hannah’s Hope. Renee now has $680 from Parrot Head donations that she and her elves will use to shop for 5 needy families. What a generous group of folks we have! Merry Christmas all.
December Phlocking/Christmas Party
Great PHlocking on the 5th, got to see a lot of folks we had not seen in a bit. We raised $543 for the needy families that will be shopped for by Renee and her elves. Thanks so much for being such generous Parrot Heads. The ugly sweaters were awesome. Three finalists, Tara, Marsha and Clyde pictured here. Merry Christmas all and you helped make a better Christmas for 5 families.
The “S.S. Parrot Head” takes first prize!
The SS Parrot Head took first place in the Non-Profits in the Emerald Isle Parade on Nov. 29th. There was lots of fun and good food at numerous work parties to build our cruise ship all fall. Special thanks to Kelly and Erin for their vision, and planning and organizing things. Our $250 prize will be donated to a brand new non profit 501c3 Hannah’s Hope that will provide all kinds of help to underprivileged kids in our area.

Wear Pink! Run, Walk, Bike, Crawl…..for a great cause! The Parrot Heads are bringing awareness to our fight against cancer by preparing and selling canned apple butter on Saturday, October 4, at Flipperz. That process will take most of the day and we thought it would be fun to hold other events during the time that we are there. So, we came up with a “DIVAS Run for the Roses.”
Now ya’ll know we all can’t run so we will allow running, walking, crawling, whatever it takes for you to complete ONLY ONE MILE! That’s right…one mile! This will be a “glam” run/walk with Tiaras, Boas, Tutus or whatever bling you come up with to get attention. We start at Flipperz at 10AM, will have a water station and cheerleaders halfway (hopefully at the E Club) and finish back at Flipperz for a big celebration! All contestants finishing the race will receive a rose and a glass of bubbly(champagne). There will also be medals for various categories! The registration fee is only $5.
Volunteer Opportunities for EI Parrots
Emerald Day4Kids
This family fun event is Saturday, September 20th 10 AM – 2PM at the Emerald Isle Community Center. Bringing adults and children of all ages together for a fun-filled day of vendors, activities, games, face painting and more! Volunteers are needed from 8:30AM – 3PM for various assignments including, but not limited to: manning game booths, manning the information table, running activities such as bingo, and assisting vendors where assigned. Volunteers are asked to give a minimum of two hours of their time. Celebrate our children by spending meaningful time with them. NC Coastal Federation Annual Native Plant Sale
The annual plant sale is Monday, September 22 – Friday, September 27 from 9AM – 5PM at the NC Coastal Federation Headquarters, 3609 Highway 24, Newport. They are asking for volunteers prior to the sale to help clean and organize the yard readying it for the sale. If you have an an hour or so to give, it would be appreciated.
Volunteers are needed to work throughout the sale, in 4 hour shifts (more/less) if you’re willing. To volunteer please call 252-393-8185 or email roser@nccoast.org
Canning For Breast Cancer Awareness
The First Friday PHlocking at the E Club is October 3, where we will have an apple peeling competition. The peeled apples will then be canned for sale at a Breast Cancer Fundraiser. Canning will take place on Saturday October 4th in the morning at Flipperz. Volunteers are needed to help can the apples. There is also a golf cart being raffled off through Flipperz for the next few weeks with those proceeds as well going for Breast Cancer.
