Thank You Volunteers!

photo 3We Cleaned up the place! Ok maybe the roadway. Thank you to all the Parrot Heads and PHriends who came to clean the roadway on both sides of the bridge in Emerald Isle.  It looks clean and spiffy now!

BTW – If you are free this coming Thursday come to Scallywags at 6PM for the New Member Social.

Schedule Free? Parrot Heads are meeting at the Emerald Club Saturday April 11 at 11AM for a road side trash pickup. It’s a great way to keep our island beautiful and spend time with your Parrot Phriends! If you are able to join us bring work gloves and clothes that cover. April 17, 12PM Golf Tournament for Gateway, Western Carteret Community Alliance supporting the Cape Carteret Bike Path. $5,000 Hole in One, open to all Golfers. Team fee $240 for 4 players. Includes Greens Fee & Cart and free Pig Picking after tournament. Tournament information – 252-622-2563. Tickets available at Sound Bank in Cedar Point, Shorewood Real Estate, EI, or Mail Payment to Gateway PO Box 5405, Emerald Isle, NC 28594. Checks payable to Gateway. Our Parrot Head Club is sponsoring a hole for $100 and our President James Hicks is on the Gateway Committee as a Parrot Head representative.

New Member Social – April 16 at Scallywags

Are you a new member of the EIPHC? You should attend this fun event! New and existing members are invited to join in on the fun April 16th at Scallywags in Cedar Point starting at 6 PM. New members since Sept. 2014 should have received an ‘Evite’. Please rsvp if you have not already done so. Seasoned members, this is your invitation, but respond if you are coming by emailing maggie.rauschenberg@gmail.com. We will have some light appetizers and a cash bar. This gives new members a way to learn more about the club and an opportunity to meet some seasoned members in a quieter setting. See you then.

Emerald Isle Half Marathon & 5K

The Emerald Isle Half Marathon is a Boston Qualifying Marathon! Their aim is to give back to our community and local charities. 50% of proceeds will benefit the Emerald Isle Bike path and 50% will benefit the American Heart Association. The event takes place Saturday March 28, 2015.

Volunteers are needed! Calling on volunteering Parrots! If you signed up to volunteer at the recent St Patty’s Day Festival, the rain may have washed your name away. Ready For Some Fun in the Sun? The Beach Bike Poker Run is coming up Saturday, May 16.  Dress up your bicycle in a selected theme, ride around town and collect the best poker hand!  There will be prizes for the best poker hands along with the best decorated bicycles in each category.  Join us for a hysterical good time!

PHiP Scholarship Essay Contest

Here’s the poop on the Essay Contest direct from the PHiP: Know someone going to college? This is a great opportunity to earn some $$$ for tuition, books or living expenses.  The PHiP Scholarship is for current Parrot Head Club Members of an officially Chartered Chapter or their children, grandchildren or wards of Parrot Head Club Members, for post secondary education.  The funds may be used for tuition, books or living expenses, at an accredited four-year university or college of the student’s choice. The award will be paid to the winners’ school account, when a student account is established. PHiP gives 3 awards in the amounts of: First Place: $5,000, Second Place: $3,000 & Third Place: $2,000

Eligibility, scholarship instructions and application can be found on the PHiP Website at: http://www.phip.com/club-scholarship. Application deadline is March 15, 2015, for enrollment for fall term (summer terms not applicable). It is your chance to be more active in club activities, provide some PHeedback and help to make some positive changes to the club.
